Vita

Prof. Dr. Christian Webersik verstärkt den Bereich „Humanitäre Hilfe & Bevölkerungsschutz“ an der Akkon Hochschule für Humanwissenschaften. Zuvor war der Wissenschaftler an der Katastrophenforschungsstelle (KFS) der Freien Universität Berlin als Gastwissenschaftler tätig. Er hat in Konstanz, Berlin, Norwich und Oxford Politik und Internationale Beziehungen studiert und in Oxford zu Umweltgefahren und -konflikten promoviert. In seiner Forschung beschäftigt er sich mit Wandlungsprozessen wie dem Klimawandel und deren gesellschaftlichen Folgen, den Aufgaben des Bevölkerungsschutzes mit Blick auf kritische Infrastrukturen, kriegerische Auseinandersetzungen und Pandemien sowie der Risikowahrnehmung und Katastrophendiplomatie. Prof. Dr. Webersik leitet diverse Forschungsvorhaben zum Einsatz von Technologie in Krisenmanagement. Forschungsaufenthalte führten ihn bereits an University of California, Berkeley, die Columbia University in the City of New York sowie an das Institut für Friedensforschung und Sicherheitspolitik an der Universität Hamburg (IFSH). Neben seiner akademischen Laufbahn hat Prof. Dr. Webersik im internationalen Krisenmanagement in Deutschland, Europa und Afrika gearbeitet und war u.a. am Aufbau einer zivilen Kriseninformationsstelle im Kosovo beteiligt, die das Militär und humanitären Akteure zusammenbrachte. Zudem engagiert er sich im Bereich des integrierten Multi-Gefahren-Risikomanagements und der Freiwilligenarbeit zur Erhöhung sozialer Resilienz im Klimawandel.
